Open a book

Justification: http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Read, Self

Actions:

  1. Switch to Home view and open the Browse activity.
  2. Find a URL for a pdf file and download it.
  3. Mouse over the clipboard selection for the file and select "Open" from its context menu.

Verify:

  • [Verified] That a clipboard selection icon appears on your clipboard on the left of the Frame.
  • [Verified] That a Journal entry was added for the pdf file you downloaded.
  • [Verified] That a context menu appears when you mouse over your selection, and that clicking "Open" opens Read.
  • [Verified] That a Read activity icon is added to the donut, and that the icon pulses to indicate that the activity ist starting up.

Check Journal status

Justification: HIG

Actions:

  1. Switch to the Home view and open Journal by clicking its icon on the donut.

Verify:

  • [Negative] That an entry has been added for your Read activity session.
A clipboard object was added, but not a read activity.
  • [Negative] That the entry displays a preview of the file you had opened.
No preview is available. It just says ‘No prieview’

Scroll through the book

Actions:

  1. Use the arrow keys to scroll down to the botttom of the file.
  2. Then, use click and drag the scrollbar to move to the top of the file quickly.

Verify:

  • [Verified] That the scrollbar updates automatically as you scroll throughout the program.
  • [NEED TEST] That the d-pad, arrow keys and scrollbar all change your position in the file properly.
Not sure what these keys are. But the ‘pg up’ and ‘pg dn’ move the page up and down.
  • [Verified] That text and images continue to display properly as you scroll.
Some pages say ‘loading…’ but wait a moment and the page renders fine.
  • [Verified] That the page indicator next to the page arrows updates as you switch pages.

Rotate the document

Actions:

  1. Press the Rotate button on the lower left the XO's monitor.
  2. Use the gamepad keys to continue scrolling while the file is rotate.

Verify:

  • [Verified] That text and images rotate properly when the rotate button is pressed.
  • [Verified] That scrolling still works properly while the file is rotated.

Share a book

Justification: http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Read

Actions:

  1. Click the Share button in the upper right corner.
  2. Go to the Neighborhood view.

Verify:

  • [Verified] That a Read activity icon appears in the Neighborhood view.
  • [Negative] That other users are able to join your Read activity.
The read activity appears in neighbourhood after the user is invited. When icon is pressed, the reader opens but the pdf doesn’t load.
  • [Negative] That users that join appear on the right side of the Frame.
  • [Negative] That all users that join are able to read the book.

TEST STOP

I think this might be something to do with how I am connected to the internet.

Close the Read activity

Justification: HIG

Actions:

  1. Click the X button in the top right corner.
  2. Have the partner you were sharing Read with leave Read as well.

Verify:

  • That the Read activity closes properly.
  • That the Read icon is removed from the activity donut.
  • That the Read icon disappears from the Neighborhood view.

Resume your reading with Journal

Justification: HIG

Actions:

  1. Switch to Journal by clicking its icon on the activity donut.
  2. Find your Read activity entry, then click Resume

Verify:

  • That clicking Resume opens Read and properly displays the file you were reading.
