Roles needed, all of which can be volunteers (most of them would be intensive fun for the right people), some of which might work best with an in-1CC contractor or staff:
- Community storyteller
- draw out stories offered by schools, ask for media.
- metrics: main page updates, # of educator/deployment overviews, planets/feeds by country
- ombudsman / volunteer lead
- help community with needs, field complaints, respond to meta-help@laptop
- metrics: volunteers placed, complaint record, rt queue traffic, volunteer intern coordination and oversight/direction
- community PR group
- coordinate announcements, broadcast cool events (like the recent 100k'th laptop distributed in uruguay!), monitor pdatres/media/lists, update comm/publications/press kits.
- metrics: press page, releases, kit components, stats, national pr groups by chapter, blogrols
- activity/ed liaison
- handle requirements, ideas, and dicsussion with educators and devs for key activities in the mission. update discussion topics, with minsky and kay and other luminarieis in the community.
- metrics: regular posts, discussion threads here and on fora, guidelines/docs for activity devs, educator involvement, lt proj fulfillment, activity Jams
- SIG/chapter coordinator group
- organize events, logos, incorporation. national teambuilding. focus mailing lists and sharing efforts. drive ambassadors/sigs to sccommunicate. coordinate swag distribution, projectdb development.
- measures: chapter and sig #s, country list updates, event lists, int'l exchanges/travels, swag #s.
- community media/communication
- maintain community, sister sites; maintain storefronts, flickr, fb, twitter, planets; follow olpcn and fora. coordinate a comm site join once/help everywhere. "turn sugar into candy"
- measure: gusest posts, bots for media from dep, portals at partner sites; wikiran;k; seo and site rank; stats upkeep; # of new members
