In Step 1a. Screen grabs would it be correct to reword the phrase "whatever you've written in the text editor" so as to become "a bitmap image of whatever you've written in the text editor, up to the size of a screenful"? That is, does it work like Microsoft PrintScreen on a PC? Likewise would it be correct to reword the phrase "a bitmap image of anything you've seen on a web page, up to the size of a screenful"?
If so, perhaps it could be reworded in the page so as clearly to note a distinction of text in a bitmap image from text as characters.
- Yes, that's exactly what was intended. Thanks for the suggestion; I'll clarify. That's not to say that text can't be implemented as well -- it's merely that, to start, screen grabs give the most bang for the buck. May i ask who you are, by the way? Hello, This is something I wanted to have for a while. I assume that you know the system called "Kansas", (yes, the state of Kansas is a flat land), that provides the pretty much the exact stuff you described here. When we were working on a system called TinLizzie, making it to have an infinite extent was I thought the next big action item for us but we didn't get around doing it. Nonetheless, the technology behind TinLizzie (Croquet/Simplified TeaTime) would be very viable implementation foundation for this... Ohshima 17:09, 6 April 2007 (EDT)
Seems a lot like Etoys
I'm sure you've tried Etoys yourself, and much (or everything, except the horizontal infinite scroll) of your proposal can already be done in OLPC Etoys (mix and match different media, like text, video and image. Edit them in place. Make them operate via tile-dragging scripting. Inviting others to our workspace). I wonder if working with the OLPC Etoys team to better integrate (visually and interface-wise) their system with the rest of Sugar (it already does to a large extent) would be a short-term way to achieve a sugarized "flatland" out of it.HoboPrimate 07:53, 12 August 2007 (EDT)
