Active Antennae No Longer Suggested??

Anyway I thought I saw (on this wiki) that Active Antennae are no longer available so why test with them?

Are you crazy? ;-/ A "sanity test" with unreasonable requirements as the first test of connectivity?

The bottom of the XS announcement (blog.laptop.org) mentions small scale XS on XO, and your first test is not small scale at all, so make it easier???

Partitioning, thanks

I've installed XS ( and need to check my version ), the first time again in years since it wiped my regular laptop drive for FOSE 2008 (Federal Office Systems Expo 2+ years ago) without asking for partitioning like a regular Fedora distro/ spin, so thanks for making that an option!

Getting back to XS settings after FirstBoot

The first time I booted the XS software, it was giving me a text based menu of settings stuff, which I'm guessing was a FirstBoot type config thing and I don't see it now, and would like to get back to it, as I'm learning XS in an odd home configuration...

Suggestion: Make XS a Fedora Bundle

Not to put a wrench in the existing XS process, but I have a need to run XS *sometimes*, in a home and maybe User Group / demo / testing environment and want to share the school server base OS Fedora (hopefully F11 and 64 bit) with a base install, so if XS rpms were bundled into something that can be yum installed off a base vanilla Fedora system (and making it easier to port to next Fn+1 versions and other (rpm based at least) distros) it seems like the way to go...

Have any base Fedora installed, then just

yum install OLPC-XS

or

yum groupinstall OLPC-XS

and you have an XO server (though still not really custom configured)

when changes made to configure the server

service OLPC-XS start

and when not in use

service OLPC-XS stop

turn off the school server services (i know there are multiple services, just suggesting a simple interface, for teachers and non techies, plus newbie techies just learning, etc)

This way you might be able to use the base Fedora (or later other distros) install machine for other things like print serving, file serving, usenet store and forward dialup/ cell/ very remote applications, etc)...

Good for afterschool programs, user group environments, sharing limited resources, development environments for testing, and just learning, etc...

Verify:

ifconfig does not return the address in this format. Instead,
