STARTING A REGIONAL GROUP IN SOUTH AFRICA I am a retired high school teacher in South Africa and I am very sure that OLPC will make a remarkable difference in many disadvantaged areas throuhout our country.

Many schools in townships and rural areas have poorly developed libraries and teacher pupil ratios are remarkably high.

In many schools in previously disadvantaged areas the pupil teacher ratio could be as high as 50:1.

Our South African government surely has the resources to do a OLPC Pilot Project in a disadvantaged area to determine the effectiveness of OLPC.

I will approach either national or one of our Provincial (Regional) governments to adopt OLPC as a Pilot Project.
