Identify areas of need for the XO

Focus - how does one meet standardized requirements while still promoting constructionism?
Things to look at - Illinois state standards and NETS

Note: admittedly, we realize that developing nations don't necessarily have the same rigid structure in place, but it doesn't hurt to demonstrate that the XO can "play nice" with more traditional modes of thought in regards to teaching. In any case, doing so seems to be one means of getting more people involved in the project who might otherwise hesitate at something so untried.

I'd love to get feedback from people in regards to this subject.

At the very least, it gives us a decent framework to examine the XO with, and even if not perfectly applicable to schools everywhere, the basic subjects in question are pretty universal.

6:30 – 7:30

Dinner - provided!

7:30 - 8:30

Content Generation Time

Develop ideas to address areas of need
Where is the XO lacking?
What topics need to be covered?
How can we teach those topics in an engaging way?
Can we use Squeak? Etoys?
What kind of activity is ideal? Can we make it?

8:30 - 9:00

Wrap-up

Prioritize generated ideas, flesh out a few choice ones.

Curriculum to look at

(tentative - please contact andrea@ilxo.org with suggestions, or leave a comment on the discussion page)

Pages include a summary (though not perfectly inclusive) of curriculum guidelines. Performance descriptors

Should probably include examples of what the XO can do already as a guideline
