Steps to repair "Invalid system date"

  1. Can you boot the system into Sugar? If not, try reflashing (and

updating the system firmware).

If you can't reflash or update the firmware, get a developer's key for the XO.

  1. Boot the system up and open up the Terminal activity. Type "su" to

become the super user (administrator).

  1. Set the software date and time. Note that this uses the US style

month/day/year system: date -s 06/24/09 date -s 22:31:00

For more information about the date command, run: date --help

  1. Set the hardware clock date and time by using the command:

hwclock --systohc

For more information about the hwclock command, run: hwclock --help

  1. Reboot the XO.

If the problem persists, the hardware clock's battery may be broken or out of its holder. Disassemble (open up) the XO and fix the clock battery.
