• Ubuntu OS X style selection-based screenshots:

This is equivalent to command + shift + 4 on OS X, except you must run it from the terminal. It would be nice (this may exist) to be able to hit a similar key command while doing anything on gnome and do a selection screenshot with a default and configurable naming/format scheme.
