I'm a hacker geek that loves to fiddle around with stuff.
By day, I'm the Senior Security Consultant for a network security firm based in Montreal. I'm lucky enough to be exposed to many technologies and businesses related to projects like OLPC.
My personal interest in OLPC started when I read about it on Slashdot. I think this idea is so wonderful. I am lucky enough to see how this type of technology can be used for a positive, educational benefit not only in third world countries but right here at home as well.
I think the G1G1 program should start approaching local elementary schools and/or schoolboards to try and repeat the experience of providing laptops to third world countries while also providing laptops to the G8 countries as well. The potential for educational value stemming from this project is too great to confine it to third world countries. Providing this as a tool to the educational system in G8 countries would not only force further financial contribution but also provide a unique opportunity to bring children in the G8 countries and children in third world countries closer together via this platform. Hence, I believe this project is truely a potential for awakening social awareness of the next generation. Imagine, all the children of the world learning from each other no matter where they are in the world.
I hope to be able to use some of my knowledge to start working on projects that will contribute to make the platform more accessible.
