Thanks for adding more detail to my comments.

As you seem to be interested enough to have tried to get this to work, I've got two more recent versions that I haven't pushed up to the repository yet.

If you are interested, I could send them to you.

The first is a simple adaptation of the version 6 game that's currently posted. It's full screen on the XO, bigger text, faster and other minor playability improvements. It also supports the game and d-pads.

The second is an adaptation of Ian Mallet's version 7 game, with a couple of bug fixes from his released code and my previous changes. This plays much faster (with a small number of asteroids present).
