==What is Muscovado Project?==

"The [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muscovado Muscovado] project aims to develop localized educational content for, and support deployments of, the [http://www.sugarlabs.org/index.php Sugar Learning] Platform in the Philippines. The Sugar Learning Platform was originally developed for the [http://www.laptop.org One Laptop Per Child] [http://laptop.org/en/laptop/hardware/index.shtml XO] but now runs on most computers. By promoting the innovative use of this technology, we hope to encourage collaborative learning and critical thinking, leading to a quality education for our children."

==Muscovado Project Goal==

[http://www.apc.edu.ph/ APC], Muscovado’s project proponent, has sought [http://www.ekindling.org eKindling’s] support and participation in the implementation since the project objectives are consistent with eKindling’s mission and goals. Some of Muscovado’s objectives are: *To promote the use of the Sugar Learning Platform.

*Mobilize the participation of select Higher Education Institution and High School students as developers of learning activities for 4th grade students.

*Conduct competition and awarding of best learning activities.

*The project which kicked off in March of this year, shall run til December. The Muscovado learning activities produced will be used in select eKindling’s partner schools.

==Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) Signing==

*On June 11, 2010, [http://www.ekindling.org eKindling] and [http://lms.apc.edu.ph/ Asia Pacific College (APC)] in the Philippines signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the action research project Muscovado: Adapting the Sugar Learning Platform to the Philippine Context. Asia Pacific College was awarded a grant by the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commission_on_Higher_Education_%28Philippines%29 Commission on Higher Education (CHED)] to launch Muscovado, named after unrefined dark sugar in the Philippines. This project is designed to develop learning software for primary education using open source technology.

What is Muscovado Project?
