Disappointing welcome page
... for being one of the first countries having achieved a 100% OLPC XO-XS roll-out, I'm disappointed nobody of the OLPC Uruguay community take the time to make this welcome page a bit more appealing. I've made a template I've adapted for my country and all the countries we have been attributed to support in accordance with Europaid: http://wiki.laptop.org/go/Belgium --SvenAERTS 16:47, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
- Why would they need to? They have 100% deployment. If you care so much for accurate data, you should contact them and get it. --Quozl 22:29, 1 November 2013 (UTC)
- e.g. because OLPC and the olpc community are very small; too small to have people scattered over numerous websites, collaboratives spaces, 30 email/discussion groups, why make it difficult-decentralized if it can be centralized; e.g.to give back to the olpc community, help build and reinforce it. To foster the spreading of the project. To help bring the knowledge, initiatives, etc. together in 1 place so others can more easily find, link-up and expand them. --SvenAERTS 01:13, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
- Well, although it is true that OLPC and the community are very small, and that centralisation of information may have benefits that outweigh diversity of service providers and excessive dependence on critical infrastructure ... you haven't answered my question; why would the Uruguay community need to do what you asked? What steps have you taken to contact them for the data you need? It is obvious that they aren't using this Wiki. Don't waste your time in this Wiki speculating and whining about what you need, go and get it. --Quozl 01:53, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
Video OLPC Uruguay
A Laptop per Child - Uruguay - video at 11'15": "125 €/laptop = 5% of educational budget is spent on the XO's, which uruguay can easily affort. Uruguay now is Latin America's nr.1 in software development." at 12'25": more XO-robots doing sorting operations. 13'55": Action: make available more workshops for teachers on how to integrate the use of laptops in their teaching. 15'55": pedal-powered XO. 16'25: Parents and teachers come together to learn and contribute. This is possible and this is the success: everybody can contribute and contributes something. We advise other countries to come to us for consulting. 18'00": Learning anywhere, anytime. 21'25: Amazing how kids open up, gain confidence. Many kids are unwanted and through the laptop they can leave their environments, discover and connect to others. 22'00 Uruguay Président José MUJICA. "
