Intern program for the fall

I'm working on a formal program for interns -- if you have specific ideas on how to do this for the fall and future semesters, let me know. --Sj talk 20:08, 20 August 2008 (UTC)

Mailing lists (search archives and then ping the list) and the wiki so far, local grassroots groups and the blogs/forums they've set up... Nikki can hook you up with info sources, as can I. If either of you are going to 1cc this weekend, I'd definitely ask SJ if there are any notes on the "job board" topic from the library meeting this week, existing efforts, etc - no sense in duplicating work.

What we need first, though, is an infrastructure for all these people to post their details into - a really easy to use, "put your information here" wiki page with clear instructions on what to do for both help-givers and help-seekers, and some good examples to get people started (Nikki and I can post some opportunities in Chicago this summer.)

Or maybe the best format to use *isn't* a wiki page - plenty of other software is available (although we try to keep things on-wiki as much as possible to avoid information fragmentation, sometimes it's unavoidable... we also have mailing lists and a forum, both of which are other "job-board-like" options). Check out other job posting boards, see what you like and don't like about their design, and then decide how you want to do this one.
