Schedule for the Physics Game Jam Cambridge

This schedule is open to suggestions. Please feel free to contribute.

You may notice the Physics Jam is technically less than 48 hours. You are right. This will be a game jam of epic proportions. --Bjordan 20:53, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Friday - get settled, learn about the XO, start your project

  • 5-7pm - check-in, set-up computers, learn about developing for the XO
  • 6:30pm - activity template and pygame tutorial
    • Using the OLPC Wiki, and activity download statistics (broadcasted, talk by Seth Woodworth, summer OLPC intern)
    • Intro to developing for Sugar (broadcasted, talk by Bobby Powers, summer OLPC intern and developer of Model activity)
    • A very brief introduction to Box2D (broadcasted, talk by Eric Jordan, maintainer of the JBox2D Project and Box2D contributor
  • 7-7:30pm - introductions, kickoff, begin jamming
    • Round of introductions, fun getting-to-know-you games
    • Intro to the OLPC project (sj)
  • 7:30-9:30pm - dinner available

Saturday:

  • 9-10am - breakfast available
  • noon-2pm - lunch available
  • 12:30-1:15 - (broadcasted) midway check in; short updates from teams on progress, and a great chance to ask for help or extra hands.
  • 2pm - level design for x2o (brian or alevenson)
  • 6:30-8pm - dinner available

Sunday:

  • 9-10am - breakfast available
  • noon-2pm - lunch available (FRANTIC CODING, EAT FAST!)
  • 2:30-4pm - (broadcasted) final presentations, judging
  • 4-5pm - Physics jam attendees may sit in on informal educational activities talk with educator Caryl Bigenho and OLPC VP of Learning David Cavallo
  • 5-5:30pm - wrap-up
  • 5:30pm - check-out
