Luis Galindo:OLPC Philippines (OLPC PH), in a coalition of individuals living in the Philippines working to bring a different education in their country across the ideas and values of OLPC.

Luis Galindo:A person from whatever part of the World, proactive, passionate about the beauty and diversity of a country like the Philippines, who appreciates life in all its details. Researcher, creative and happy to learn every day through different experiences of new technologies and how these technologies can help to transform a society, through a more creative and open education. :-)

4. Which small island in the Philippines did it go to?

Luis Galindo:Lubang Island, Occidental Mindoro. Is an island group that consists of about four islands and some islets located northwest of the northern end of Mindoro Island, west of Batangas and offshore 150 km west-south-west of Manila. It is bounded on the west by vast South China Sea and on the South by the Calavite Passage. Some Pictures :-)

5. What group/community raised funds for the first XO Laptop deployment in the Philippines?

Luis Galindo:When working in community, joining forces, it is more possible to succeed. The funds raised was possible thanks to the contributions of the National Computer Center employees with the leadership of Meg Simpson. And the essential colaboration of eKindling with OLPC Friends and OLPC-NZ(New Zeland) for the first remote school Pilot in the Philippines.

8. What is Halo Halo?

Luis Galindo:Halo-halo (from Tagalog word halò, "mix") is a popular Filipino dessert that is a mixture of shaved ice and evaporated milk to which are added various boiled sweet beans and fruits, and served in a tall glass or bowl. Thank you so much Wikipedia, Philippines and this Trivia to make me discover this dessert!, may be is a good idea to make a Halo-halo for the Carnival season :-).

A. Serafico:My most favorite dessrert ever (the one from Razon's most specially)! ;) It's a popular Filipino dessert made with assorted ingredients (garbanzos, beans, nata de coco, among others), topped with shaved ice, ube and ice cream.

G. Reyes:A mix-mix of various edible food that is served as a dessert in the Philippines. It can also describe the mix-mix culture of the Philippines from a long line of Spanish & Chinese descent among others. It can also describe a mix tape.

9. In 1974, the island of Lubang received international attention. Why?

Luis Galindo:Lubang Island received international attention in 1974 when Lt. Hiroo Onoda, a Japanese straggler who didn’t know that World War II had ended, emerged from the hills of this Island after 30 years in the forest. He returned to Japan a hero, especially in his hometown of Wakayama Prefecture. With the sighting of the former Japanese Imperial Army, Lt. Onoda, the island was thrown into limelight since then. This even generated and developed consciousness of the island internationally, particularly among Japanese.

A. Serafico:It was last stand of Japanese straggler Lt. Hiroo Onoda before surrendering to Filipino authorities not knowing that World War II has long ended.

G. Reyes:2nd Lt.Hiroo Oneda of Japan finally surrendered after 29 years of Japan's formal surrender in the Philippines.

12. Is it true that a Filipino Inventor invented the Karaoke?

Luis Galindo:Wow! Yes! Roberto del Rosario, a Filipino Inventor that is the president of the Trebel Music Corporation and the inventor of the Karaoke Sing Along System in 1975. He patented more than twenty inventions making him one of the most prolific Filipino inventor. Besides his famous Karaoke Sing Along System Roberto del Rosario has also invented:

• Trebel Voice Color Code (VCC)
• piano tuner's guide
• piano keyboard stressing device
