:Thanks for your question. That operating system choice key sequence was for laptops manufactured with both Microsoft Windows and Linux, but none were ordered. A quick way for you to add an operating system choice for your configuration would be to edit the /boot/olpc.fth file on the external socket SDHC card, to check one of the keys and boot the internal storage. The following example might work, I've not tested it. --[[User:Quozl|Quozl]] 01:26, 16 June 2012 (UTC) |

perhaps this page should describe which builds / firmwares these codes apply to? Ywwg 20:59, 18 August 2007 (EDT)
"After firmware version" is ambiguous: does it include that version or only versions after that version. Suggest, instead, you say: "Firmware version xxx and higher." --Bob 15:14, 8 October 2007 (EDT)
Emulation
Is there any provision for using these cheat codes under an emulator? I'm using VirtualBox and I thought I'd try an auto-upgrade, but I'm not certain that I can do it with the emulated machine because A) there's no firmware, and B) there's no apparent way to send the game button key codes. O button and boot-alt
I tried the "alternate image" boot on my new G1G1 laptop (it has 656 on it), and it refuses to boot at all. It apparently doesn't have a boot-alt directory anywhere on it, so it fails. I added some extreme weasel-words to the description. Hopefully someone who knows things can edit it later. --Riva 03:04, 13 April 2008 (EDT)
Troubleshooting boot failure
HI, I have a olpc computer and would like to give it as a gift. It is brand new as I have never taken it out of the box. Now I can't get it to turn on, the screen remains dark. What do i do? Delores Lawson dlawson1203@gmail.com
