OLPC has begun qualification of a new camera sensor SIV121D for the XO-4 laptops.
Problem
The released operating system does not have a driver for the SIV121D sensor, so new laptops or old laptops with cameras replaced with the new sensor will not work with the camera. The Record activity will show a blank image.
Solution
For 14.1.0, upgrade just the kernel, Start the Terminal activity and type this:
sudo yum install -y kernel
And then shutdown and reboot.
A solution for XO-1 or XO-1.75 is not yet available, please contact OLPC.
XO-1.5
The SIV121D sensor is not supported and does not work on the XO-1.5, because the motherboard provides a 48 MHz clock, and the sensor requires a maximum 27 MHz clock.
