Why WinRAR (which is free trialware, but not open source and you have to pay after a certain period of time) instead of 7zip (open source)? ~~

Although WinRar is a free trialware, after the 40 days of trial it can still be used, all that must be done is press cancel when the popup shows up.

One of the reasons I chose WinRar is that unlike 7zip, for certain file types (such as the the compressed emulated image) you do not need to extract the file twice in order to get at the image, WinRar extracts it straight to the .img file in one go. Also, the user interface is much easier to understand and use than 7zip's. [[User:Vmitra|Vmitra]]

Although WinRar is a free trialware, after the 40 days of trial it can still be used, all that must be done is press cancel when the popup shows up.
