Hi, I am Rob Bosch. I am Dutch and live in Belgium. Since a few years I have become quite interested in Educational aid. I also am a supporter of Open Source and Open Content. In 2012 I was introduced to the dutch 'Foundation Ile de Mar' This is a foundation that helps develop the education on the Island 'Ile de Mar' in the Sine-Saloum delta of Senegal. Foundation Ile de Mar Project page
In 2010 the project was extended with ict options for the schools they had built. 100 XO 1.5's were donated to the school. The foundation paid for a local instructor who is still giving ict lessons to the schools on the island.
In 2013 I went to the island myself and built a local ict network, based on opensource solutions. A server was installed which runs Zentyal 3.2 Linux Small Business Server.
Next projects will concern:
- Internet in a box
- Internet connection through a ptp wifi connection. (distance 5km / 3,2 miles)
- Chamilo Electronic Learning environment
- Schooltool school administration software
- OpenBiblio library software for the schoollibrary.
