Transfer a Jounal entry from one XO to another
Actions
- Plug USB into the first XO.
- Go to the Journal activity.
- Drag a Journal entry (any activity) onto the USB stick icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Click on the USB stick icon.
- Type the beginning of the name of the Journal entry that you entered in the search window, and hit enter.
- Scroll over the USB stick icon, and choose the unmount option.
- Plug the USB stick into the second XO.
- Go to the Journal activity.
- Click on the USB icon.
- Type the beginning of the name of the Journal entry that you entered in the search window, and hit enter.
- Drag the Journal entry on the USB stick to the Journal icon at the bottom of the page.
- Click on the Journal icon.
- Find the entry and click resume.
Verify
- The USB stick icon comes up in the journal.
- The journal entry is present on the USB stick after you dragged it onto the icon.
- Typing the beginning of the name of the entry in the search window yields results, which include the entry.
- When the USB stick is unmounted, the USB and Journal icons disappear from the bottom of the journal screen.
- The USB stick icon comes up in the journal of the second XO.
- The journal entry is there, and can be searched for by name.
- Dragging the entry from the USB stick to the journal icon puts the entry in the second XO's journal.
- The second XO is able to resume the activity.
Transfer a photo from one XO to another XO
Actions
- Take a picture with the record activity, draw a picture with paint, or get an image from the internet, and drag it onto the clipboard of the XO.
- If you're using paint, you have to select the part of the image you want and then choose copy from the edit menu.
- Scroll over the image's icon on the clipboard, and choose "Add to journal."
- Plug the USB stick into the XO.
- Go to the journal activity.
- Find the clipboard image entry in the journal, and drag it onto the USB stick icon at the bottom of the screen.
- Click on the USB icon, and find the image entry on the USB stick.
- Scroll over the USB icon, and select unmount.
- Take out the USB stick and Plug it into the second XO.
- Go to the journal activity of the second XO, and click on the USB icon.
- Drag the image file from the USB stick to the journal icon.
- Click on the journal icon to switch to the journal.
- Resume the image entry. (it can be viewed in either the browse or etoys activity)
Verify
- The USB stick icon comes up in the journal when the stick is plugged in.
- Dragging the image entry onto the USB icon transfers the image to the stick.
- Selecting unmount gets rid of the USB stick icon in the journal.
- You are able to locate the image file on the second XO.
- Dragging the image file onto the journal icon puts the image in the journal.
- You are able to view the image on the second XO.
