This is a device with a normal keyboard and a screen that is three times wider than a normal PALM screen. It runs PalmOS and is intended as a writing tool although it can run any Palm software. It can be used with the widescreen and keyboard or turned sideways and used as a Palm with a 3 times bigger screen.

Since it is a PalmOS device, it can accept handwriting input on the wide screen strip. This is similar in some ways to the wide touchpad strip on the OLPC, also intended for handwriting input.
