The current release candidate for 8.1.3 is build 714.

THIS RELEASE WILL BRICK B2 MACHINES. DO NOT INSTALL ON OLD MACHINES. On old machines, the plastic on the top by the XO man is perfectly smooth. If your plastic is textured and bumpy, this release will work fine for you.

If you have an old machine, you can safely install this build only if you first install firmware q2e18.

Improvements from Release 8.1.2

See OLPC SW-ECO 7 for a more precise list of the changes, indexed by ticket, that lead from Release 8.1.2 (build official-711) to 714. To summarize, we added:

  • Support for Amharic compose keys and Ethiopian keyboards.
  • EC/OFW update to include recognizing new motherboards, C3, and to fix pretty-boot issues.
