A diagnostic aid for untrained or uneducated people working in remote areas without access to formal medical care. Ideally will be largely picture-based, with easy-to-use interface
- User:DyD has collected some diagnosis aids used by a local hospital.
- User:ZdenekBroz has been working on a wikislice of relevant medical information (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Wikislice/Medical, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/THM_:_DB)
- A very simple pygtk/xml based activity could be made using if/elseif clauses to mimic a diagnostic flowchart.
- The biggest problem here is legal liability, a hefty disclaimer may be needed.

"Ian,
I will agree to make this database available free of any charge to your team working for OLPC with a simple condition. I would like formal assurance that third parties don't have access to this database except through the application you create. I had to encrypt it years ago after I noticed several individuals stealing all the definitions to create websites. Every other month I receive requests to sell it. I do not plan to sell it, because I want not to be used for profit. Let's find a way to do this properly and I will be glad to help colleagues from other countries that will use your application.
Best wishes,
Aurelian"
