• how can we, sitting in WA, understand what is needed in the developing world - push vs pull?

• Cambodia example: "If you raise the money to biuld a school, he'll raise the money to put in teachers."
• Kids teach the kids - actually hired older students to teach in different schools
• Even got connectivity - he saw 9/11 from that satellite school
• Bandwidth by motorcycle (they've worked with MIT)

• Governments are great, but private individuals should be able to start pilots too.
• Virtual grassroots groups to support those really energetic individuals

• it needs to be localized... we can't just copy-paste solutions everywhere
• "It's like giving fire to people who've never had fire. You don't know whether it's going to cook or burn."
• How do you measure?
• We can't worry too much about measuring...

• Allow people to stay with their communties but still intellectually travel the world.

• Maybe people in the developing world don't grok it yet - we need to communicate the benefits to them.
