The One Laptop per Child non-profit develops a low-cost laptop—the "XO Laptop"—to revolutionize how we educate the world's children. Our mission is to provide educational opportunities for the world's poorest children by giving each child a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop; and content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning.

Quote of the Day

"This is not just a matter of giving a laptop to each child, as if bestowing on them some magical charm. The magic lies within -- within each child, within each scientist, scholar, or just plain citizen in the making. this initiative is meant to bring it forth into the light of day."
  —Kofi Annan

Current projects

OLPC for Haiti: We are currently asking people and developers who are not using their XO-1's to donate them to our OLPC for Haiti program, which will deliver laptops and spare parts to our country team on the ground.

Read more recent news, follow our deployments, or read about sugar 0.86 and our upcoming XO 1.5 laptop release. If you want to suggest or start a new project, or get free XO hardware to work with, submit a project proposal directly.
