Thanks for the correction!

Dear Boris,

re: Translation terms: to delete or not to delete

follow up to User talk:Xavi#Translation terms: to delete or not to delete

Biarm, I didn't tag the page for deletion, I just highlighted its obsolete state.
Originally (before Pootle) the intent of the Translation terms page was along the lines of what you describe :) And I totally agree with you that Pootle fails to provide a space where the terminology may be discussed. In that sense, I think we should try to merge Translation terms with Pootle/Glossary (currently just the wiki version of the POT) into something that will allow us to both propose terms to be included into Pootle's terminology project and provide a reasonable space to discuss them. What do you think? --Xavi 07:53, 29 November 2007 (EST)
Hi Xavi. I would appreciate any technically sound solution that will allow to suggest variants of translations and discuss them. If it is possible to arrange that as a part of Pootle's terminology project, it is fine with me. I just think that PTP is something more advanced. And my concern is about volunteer translators who come to localize various wiki pages and need some easy to handle wiki glossary to play with the translation template and have some initial practice. It is just to early to redirect those people to the Pootle server. (This is exactly the situation that we have with Russian translations). So my suggestion would be to keep a draft glossary wiki page somewhere (to me Translation terms serves this purpose well and, as soon as a term is finalized, transfer it to the Pootle glossary. Does that make sense? :-) --Biarm 14:46, 29 November 2007 (EST)
Thanks for the note on my talk page. There is no reason for the Russian translation of the Simplified user guide to be locked in that Google group, but I'm uncertain of how to upload the file. So I will email it to you in hopes it's a good start for you. Thanks so much for your interest and let me know how I can help. annegentle 23:43, 5 December 2007 (EST)

howdy!

Hello Biarm, please add a request on the OLPC:Administrators page indicating your history as an editor, wiki-experience, and why you'd like to be an admin. Thanks! --Sj talk to me 21:45, 24 December 2007 (EST)

Main Page

Hello Biarm, I've been editing the Main Wiki Page, and have temporarily removed the link to Russian until we can bring the information up to date. I was going to do this myself, but I am not a native speaker, and I cannot type the cyrillic.

Do you have time to redo The OLPC Wiki/lang-ru. Katie 23:03, 27 January 2008 (EST)

Hallo Katie. I have updated the Russian Main Wiki Page and aligned it with the current English version. You may now restore the link.

Best, Boris
