Thanks for the welcome & cute little green obsession

Hi SJ! It's fascinating to watch the G1G1 program turn the olpc developer community into a developer/(adult)user community, especially with the needs of the G1G1generation being so different than those of the real olpc child users.

One possible frame: Treat all adults as "teachers" who need to learn about the XO for their own use (write a memo to an administrator; search the web for lesson materials, e-mail colleagues, etc) as well as for its pedagogical purposes. Some of the "how I did it" bbs material could fit that model, if aggregated on some wiki pages.

Best of luck integrating/linking/differentiating the BBSs, lists, Wikis etc. I've been in "where to start" mode for a month. Not the best environment for my personal mixture of olpc/add/ocd... :-)

Assuming that there are others like me who are frustrated with one of the basic tools, I added a few paragraphs to the Write page today and would like to do more... Perhaps that is already covered in a new edition of the beginner's guide since my last look; if so it needs a link on that page... but my XO-centric vacation is over; I have about 90 students of my own to face tomorrow and a syllabus still in need of updating! During the semester, I may enlist students into helping think the the SilverStringers material into an '10-year-old-international-stringers' model...

Elsewhere, I've documented my own olpc distractions and xocentricities on my User:Robby wiki page, at http://del.icio.us/bstepno/olpc and here: http://boblog.blogspot.com (By the way, I've managed to put a 'post to delicious' button on top of XO Opera)

OLPC is inspired, inspiring and addictive; you're lucky to be there in an official (and, I hope, reasonably salaried) capacity. I'll help when I can. Robby 16:09, 13 January 2008 (EST)
