Sobre PyGTK

PyGTK provee una envoltura conveniente para la biblioteca GTK+ para usar dentro de los programas de Python, tomando en cuenta de las muchos de los detalles aburridos tales como el manejo de memoria y el tipo de casting. Al combinarse con los modulos de PyORBit, gnome-python, gnome-python-desktop o gnome-python-extras, puede ser usado para escribir aplicaciones completas en Gnome.

GTK+ es una utileria de Interfaz gráfica para desarrollo de aplicaciones gráficas que corren en sistemas POSIX tales como Linux, Windows y MacOS X (provee un servidor X para MacOS X este debe ser instalado). Este provee una conjunto de widgets, y soporta unicodigo y texto bidireccional. Este se liga al marco de trabajo de accesibilidad de Gnome atravez de las bibliotecas ATK.

Python es un lenguaje de programación, interactivo, interpretado , orientado a objetos. Es comunmente comparado a Tcl, Perl, Scheme o Java. Python combina el poder de estos lenguajes con una sintaxis sencilla y clara. Tiene modulos, clases, excepciones, y muy alto nivel de tipos de datos y escritura dinamica.

La versión actual de PyGTK requiere de GTK+ >= 2.0 y Python >= 2.2 para construir.
