OLPC Philippines (OLPC PH) is a grassroots coalition of forward-looking and like-minded individuals living in the Philippines and abroad who are working to bring the XO Children's Machine and its unique educational methodology to Filipino children. Please join and share your ideas!
To join us, subscribe to the olpc-philippines mailing list and introduce yourself. We often send announcements and have discussions on this list.

- The Philippines (officially known as the Republic of the Philippines), is an archipelagic country located in Southeast Asia with Manila as its capital city. The Philippine archipelago comprises 7,107 islands in the western Pacific Ocean, sharing maritime borders with Indonesia, Malaysia, Palau, the Republic of China (Taiwan), and Vietnam. The Philippines is the world's 12th most populous country with a population approaching 90 million people. Its national economy is the 46th largest in the world with an estimated 2008 gross domestic product (GDP) of over US$154.073 billion. There are more than 11 million overseas Filipinos worldwide, the largest diaspora network in the world, about 11% of the total population of the Philippines. Ecologically, Philippines is considered to be among 17 of the most megadiverse countries in the world.

Community Activities
December 2008
- Carlos Nazareno Brought one of the XO-1 units to the [Philweavers] christmas party, creating buzz about OLPC Ph with the Philippine Web Designer/Developer community.
September 2008
- Software Freedom Day 2008, National Computer Center, Quezon City - Sept. 20, 2008
- The OLPC PH team joined Software Freedom Day 2008 as a booth sponsor and was able to showcase the XO-1 laptop and OLPC PH grassroots to attendees of the event.

- The OLPC PH team meet every fortnight. The next meeting is scheduled on Wednesday Oct. 22, 2008 at 9PM Philippine time via IRC. If you are outside the Philippines and interested to join the discussion, you can check the local time in your area using http://www.timeanddate.com
