This is Mel's list o' tasks. If you add to this or take something from it, please tell Mel.

What's Mel Doing Today?

Stack of tasks, must be completed by end of day. Elements will be popped from the top and done sequentially. Short-term tasks you want Mel to do today may be pushed onto the top of this stack. Tasks you want Mel to do, not necessarily today, put on the Requested Tasks list, below.

Note: today (Saturday) is a light-work day, as I've got IDDS and PoFreChef work to do along with a test request from EricVW.

  • populate Content_package_July_2007_review#Content_to_test
  • Run the first review squad round
  • Write review squad test directions
  • Post results from first review squad round
  • Send out recruitment emails to more potential review squadders
  • Email Julius the feedback on Kuku (test it yourself if possible)
  • Finalize SoCon logo (ping Nikki)
  • Request Review squad badge (ping Art community)
  • "Prettify" SoCon wikipages
  • How to run a Jam

Requested Tasks

Want Mel to do something? Leave it here. Make sure to leave your name with it so I know to ping you when I am done.

Everything below this line is potentially cruft, but mostly private notes that I keep to remind myself of things. Please use the two stacks above, if you're not Mel.

Fairly Urgent

  • Unrelated: jam howto DO IT NOW
  • Make template letters for recruiting mentors, interns, mentor orgs.
  • Contact mentor organizations. Have conversations. Get buy-in.
  • By Monday: start recruiting students.
  • 6th to 10th graders for review squad
  • Look into this, maybe ask Raymond? Content distribution and updates: H.T. Kung's group at Harvard is working on a content distribution system for ad-hoc networks that utilizes network coding. The practical benefit of their approach is that distributing a rge file among a number of laptops in a mesh network always completes within a determined amount of time, something not possible without network coding due to the inherent limitations of the wireless medium. They used 29 XOs to test their approach in Harvard's Soldier's Field during the hottest day of the summer. The XOs performed flawlessly!
