Why are they sitting on the floor, hunched over? Terrible ergonomics. And if the XO is so rugged, why are they putting them on towels? And why are these kids using laptops on the floor when there are networked PCs at desk behind them?

Floor? There are many cultures that sit on the floor. Fact. Ergonomics? Is sometimes a debatable issue (high heels, ties, telephones, stools, etc. are things some cultures put up with for various reasons). Ruggedness? Just because your laptop is rugged doesn't mean you want to expose it to unnecessary tear & wear, some people value & cherish their possessions and want to keep things in pristine conditions (else, SUVs should never be washed or waxed, or rammed into a tree just to test the airbags...)
So why not use the 'networked PCs at desk behind them'? Maybe because they had to sit in chairs instead of the floor... This is a multi-cultural project, and being culture sometimes defined as 'the way of doing things', that means we must accept diversity in doing things, not criticize them with all our prejudices. --Xavi 14:31, 30 September 2007 (EDT)
