Introduce yourself, say something about your interests in the XO and in meeting with locals who have one.

Jane Krauss, south Eugene denizen of 20 years. Educator in local schools and curriculum writer/program developer for education concerns ranging from Intel, ISTE, Girl Scouts USA, National Center for Women & Information Technology, others. I'm a director on the board of a nonprofit, Springboard Innovation, which is focused on community-led community change through socially entrepreneurial practices. I'm interested in the potential of the XO for leveling the playing field between the advantaged and not-so-lucky. I like OLPC's way of framing the initiative:"Help make education for the world's children a priority, not a privilege" - Tagline on the OLPC Give-1 Get-1 Campaign; "It's an education project, not a laptop project." - Nicholas Negroponte, PI at MIT. I want to meet with others to understand the technology (I only sort of get the thin mesh client innovation, want to know about the linux OS, how the open-source apps operate) and think about the educational implications for kids and for the families into whose homes these computers go.
