chigetleto WINE might allow to distribute older Windows software until a sufficient pool of Linux software did exist. Sufficiently old software may no longer be interesting for the software vendors but may still be useful on the laptop. Vendors might also be willing to dual-license commercial software for the OLPC laptop.
