Project description

Curriki is an international community of educators sharing and collaboratively building open educational resources using a wiki tool custom-built for curriculum. The site has launched in English, but we have plans to add Spanish-language resources soon, and we'd like to have a dedicated Spanish-language site. We're looking for an intern to begin translating the site pages into Spanish.

We'd prefer someone who can help us understand the cultural norms, administrative structures, etc. that surround education in Latin America, so that we're not merely translating the language, but developing a community that fits the Latin American context.

In this moment the government of Colombia (and some Latin American countries) is working about projects of technology and education. Curriki is a good way to show advantages about technology, collaborative and community influence in education and a way to show the necessity of change the way of children are learning. Latin American countries need to introduce technology in their learning process but they need a guide too. I think Curriki can be a good guide, but is necessary to make the context for this countries, to understand their culture, their necessities and their language. I wanna work in curriki project because I want to help to make this context.

I'm very interested to find ways to use new technologies in educational developments. In our country (Colombia), teachers have a huge interest to use those new technologies but there are not enough documentation about how recreate a curriculum to do it. Also, I want to explore how to design activities using free software. This activities must agree with standards of the ministry of national education. I think curriki is a good project to learn from others experiences and to contribute with ours.
