Project description

[Wikieducator is a community sponsored by the Commonwealth of Learning where educators develop and share open content curricular materials. We are looking for ideas for how to get more teachers into the community and make it easier for them to post and share their content. Please help us brainstorm proposals here on how to improve WikiEducator's ability in developing a free education curriculum for all.

As projects get more fleshed out and developed, they can become their own proposals; see directions on how to post a project proposal on the Summer of Content projects page.

  • A project that targets vocational schools and vocational training - making step-by-step guides with color photographs for teaching various skills
    • In particular, a "machining resource center" that teaches, through videos and photograps, correct and safe operation of various machining tools, from hammers and handsaws to bandsaws and lathes, chainsaws, etc. Maybe a how to use a FabLab resource?
    • Something like an "A+ certification" computer training curriculum, but not actually tied to any commercial certification, and 100% open content.
  • Hold classes and seminars for teachers in your area and teach them how to use wikis, get them involved in Wikieducator.
  • Work with a local teacher and his or her class to have the students create a curriculum for whatever they are learning in class.
  • Your ideas here...
