OLPC Korea는 기존 제주지역 읍면동을 주민자치센터로 전환하는 과정을 적극 지원합니다. 각 마을 단위의 공동체에 배치된 공동체 서버는 현재의 읍면동 사무소가 제공하는 정부 서비스를 제공하고, 주민들이 지역 사회의 각종 의사 결정에 참여하는 통로가 될 것입니다.

공동체 서버는 OLPC Korea가 진행하는 모든 활동의 핵심이자 주춧돌이며, 주민들 상호간 배움의 기회를 제공하고, 각종 문화 활동을 자발적으로 조직 및 운영하는데 필요한 기술적 지원을 제공합니다.

제주특별자치도를 43개의 주민자치 공동체로 재편성하고, 중앙정부 및 제주특별자치도 도청과 시청이 제공하는 정부 서비스들의 상당 부분을 자체적으로 창조하고, 또한 소비하는 것은 OLPC Korea가 지향하는 바인 생산자가 소비자가 되고, 개발자가 사용자가 되는 오픈소스 공동체의 정신이자, 분산 분권형 공동체의 핵심입니다.

OLPC Korea is actively supporting the conversion of current governmental offices in town or county level into self-governing residential communities. Community Servers in each town shall provide the same governmental services as current governmental offices in those towns, and be a door through which residents can participate in decision making processes of the region they live.

Community Server is the key element and ground of all activities being done by OLPC Korea, provides opportunities for residents to learn each other, and is technical solutions by which residents can organize and operate their own various cultural programs.

OLPC Korea is reorganizing the Jejudo Island into 43 self-governing residents' communities. Those communities shall create and consume governmental services themselves which are currently provided by the national government, the Jeju local government, and tens of governmental offices in Jejudo.

Consumers becoming producers, and developers becoming users is the motto of OLPC Korea under open source spirits. OLPC Korea is always pursuing the principle of distributed and participating governmental authorities.
