OLPC Pune kick-started on 14th Feb in the event "Gnunify 2009" in Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research

with the support and interest of enthusiastic members believing in the noble cause of spreading knowledge and educating children
An initial meeting of volunteers who are interested in OLPC project took place in SICSR on 14th Feb.It has been decided to start an OLPC volunteers group in Pune.Discussions are going on in [http://groups.google.com/group/olpc-india mailing list]
of underprivileged sections of society. OLPC Pune has categorized the project primarily in three areas of learning,
technology and outreach.Members are working in their own areas of interest.Sole purpose is to outreach students in rural areas and letting them experience the fun and pleasure of learning on laptops.

The getting started camp is scheduled on 1st March,2009 in Pune. The camp will focus on training the members in operating the XO laptops,load activities on XO and working on Sugar interface(emulators) on GNU/Linux machines. It will also include testing XO laptops with a handful of students in age group of 6 to 12 from underpriviledged sections of society.
