List of similar projects to One Laptop per Child.
The OLPC - not for profit- makes sure an open source, open hardware, open community, open robotic project exists and materializes in the form of a rugged educational tool in the form of a portable school or learning environment where kids and their families and networks can come together, so small it fits in a box: the XO laptop-tablet and can be PV powered.

The XO for sure is another arrow on the arc to respond to the multiple challenges as identified e.g. in the [[Millennium Development Goals]] - or more in particular MDG 2 - Bringing Universal Primary Education, Health Education, Combating poverty, [[Agenda21]], etc.

There are of course other groups that have developed aligning projects, who can e.g. unlock synergies.
