En esta página se recopila información acerca de iniciativas en Bolivia en torno a OLPC.


The aim of this educational project is on one hand to bring Universal Primary Education by 2015 as - anno year 2000 initiated - '''United Nations [[Millennium Development Goal]] nr.2'''. On the other hand, OLPC's mission is to manage the open hard and software project, to bring forward the best possible laptop combination for education: the [[XO-XServer combination]]. For this and above approach, - and also a lot of lobbying by the right persons on the right places and time - '''the United Nations is a Partner in this Open Community project'''! It is the largest educational project undertaken by Humanity ever, and deemed by many as one of the most inspiring projects out there. Things are moving very fast indeed: 2008 saw the first 3 countries with full coverage, i.e. with all kids age 5 to 12 equipped with these smallest schools in a box-laptops and [[Australia]] is now following at fast pace too, over 86.000 [[eBooks]] available, all education disciplines covered, etc. etc..
En Bolivia existe un grupo organizado con el nombre OLPC que no está vinculado todavía a la comunidad OLPC o a despliegues, y un despliegue privado con 100 equipos (SOBOCE). Este primer grupo organizado o Grupo OLPC Bolivia es el grupo interinstitucional mas grande de Bolivia que con una metodologia propia esta logrando integrar las XO y otras computadoras similares a centros educativos, escuelas, universidades y proyectos coordinados por ONGs. Entre las instituciones participantes se encuentran: Save the Children, la Universidad Catolica Boliviana, Red Cetus y Parity-CB. Pronto les ofreceremos mas informacion relacionada a este grupo y sus exitosas actividades en Bolivia.


Bolivia has a very very large diaspora. We hope that this diaspora will work their way to these pages, set-up, link-up their projects with OLPC, coordinate projects and that they can inspire many in their host countries to come along. It is so difficult in these host countries to develop additional value and hence make money. In many regions in the home country however it is so easy as everything is to be developed.

El Grupo OLPC – Bolivia es una asociasion interinstitucional que se conformo en Bolivia en el mes de octubre del 2007 para dar a conocer los elementos necesarios y estudiar la complejidad de la implementación de programas que buscan la instalación de grandes números de computadores en el país para fines educativos. El Grupo cuenta con la presencia de Universidades, ONG’s, empresas de servicios, oferentes de productos y representantes de municipios, prefecturas y el Gobierno Nacional y esta coordinado por la empresa consultora Parity-CB.


Also the societies from the host countries will benefit from the Bolivia diaspora who has one leg in the host country and another still in their countries of origin. Maybe it will start by developing leadership for OLPC, but soon it will be accompanied by exporting technologies, know-how and experience from the host countries along Agenda 21, the MDG's and together you will be able to accelerate bringing the level of quality of life in Bolivia to a level that will inspire others, existing generations and generations to come.

Bolivia is one of the 18 partner countries of Belgian governmental cooperation were selected on the basis of their degree of poverty, aspects of good governance and Belgium’s potential for providing meaningful support. The precise criteria for selecting countries are set out in the law on international cooperation, which limits the maximum number of recipients to 18 partner countries.

El Grupo OLPC – Bolivia dentro de la primera fase de pilotos trabajo en forma conjunta con Save The Children quienes donaron fondos para la compra de equipos (pantallas y teclados) y realizo la coordinación de capacitación para capacitadores. NComputing, que donó equipos X-300, Red Cetus que realizo el diseño de la red e instalación de los equipos y El Chasqui, que fue la institución anfitriona en la cuidad de El Alto. El Chasqui dio los espacios remodelados para poner el centro educativo. Parity Consultores Bolivianos realizo el estudio económico y técnico para el proyecto.

Gracias a la implementación de los equipos X-300 de NComputing fue posible expandir el laboratorio de 6 computadoras que tenia El Chasqui en uno de 20 computadoras lo que permitió proveer acceso a más niños y a un buen programa de educación.

==Presencia oficial de la OLPC Foundation en Bolivia==
Luego de evaluar y sobrepasar todas las dificultades en cuanto a instalación y conectividad del laboratorio, podemos decir que el proyecto piloto en El Chasqui fue todo un éxito. Ahora solo nos queda buscar algún donante para que con sus aportes se pueda comprar una antena Wi Max para que podamos bajar la señal de Internet y así dotar a este centro de este servicio.
Actualmente, el Grupo OLPC– Bolivia se encuentra en la segunda fase del emprendimiento, analizando y evaluando nuevos pilotos tales como:


rah (a) laptop.org es Presidente para Latinoamérica y el Caribe por OLPC
• Fundación Arco Iris (ONG) que se dedica a albergar a niños y niñas de la calle. Este proyecto cubre 5 laboratorios de las 7 casas que tiene la fundación en la ciudad de La Paz. El proyecto tiene un costo aproximado de $us 50,000 y se utilizará una combinación de la tecnología de las X-300 de NComputing y las Classmates de Intel.
• Municipio de Batallas ubicado a una hora de la ciudad de La Paz en la provincia Los Andes y cuenta con una población de 18 mil habitantes. Este proyecto contempla inicialmente cinco unidades educativas y se pretende llegar a cubrir todas las unidades educativas del sector asi como la Biblioteca Municipal. Actualmente el Municipio de Batallas cuenta con unos 200 equipos de computación y busca el apoyo del Grupo para que realice toda la logística y los estudios económicos para la conexión de los centros educativos y para que estos sean sostenibles en el tiempo.


Creemos firmemente que la educación es la base para el desarrollo de todo pais y que la implementación de centros educativos tecnológicos en las zonas rurales y peri-urbanas es imprescindible para mejorar la calidad de vida de las zonas mas deprimidas creando mas oportunidades y generando mayores fuentes de empleo para el desarrollo de la comunidad.
