Summary of pre-primary Schools (Kindergartens) in South Korea
For full information, visit here and click the Excel file attached.
- At the end of 2006', there are 8,455 kindergartens, 545,812 chidren, 23,010 classes, 6,470 office workers and 32,096 teachers. We estimate there should be an extra OLPC per 500 children and per 100 teachers. So, we need (545,812 x 100.5% = ) about 600,000 OLPC(hild)s at minimum, and (6,470 + 32,096 = 192,353) x 101%= about 40,000 Type III OLPC(itizen)s.
- As this OLPC wiki estimates one server per 100 OLPCs, we may need 23,010 servers. However, there are some schools whose students are less than 100, a little more servers more will be needed, maybe 25,000 servers.
- Estimated budget: 193 million dollars at minimum
- 66 million dollars for OLPC(hild)s ($110 per unit).
- 52 million dollars for Type III OLPC(itizen)s ($130 per unit). See Yet another OLPC: One Laptop per Citizen
- 75 million dollars for School Servers ($300 per unit). See School Servers for Korean Schools.
Sub-total: we needs 193 million dollars for 600,000 kindergarten children' machines.
