Etoys pe un ecran OLPC

Squeak Etoys a fost inspirat de LOGO, PARC-Smalltalk, Hypercard şi starLOGO. Este un mediu media complet cu un model simplu şi puternic bazat pe scripturi pentru multe tipuri de obiecte create de utilizatori ce pot rula pe orice platformă, este soft liber şi gratuit. Conţine grafică 2D şi 3D, imagini, text, prezentări, pagini web, clipuri video, audio şi MIDI, etc. Are capacitatea de a împărtăşi desktop-uri cu alţi utilizatori în timp real şi multe tutoriale şi jocuri pot fi realizate pe Internet. Este multilingvist, rulează pe mai mult de 20 de platforme bit-identice si a fost folosit cu succes in SUA, Europa, America de Sud (Brazilia, Columbia, Argentina), Asia (Japan, Korea, India, Nepal) şi nu numai.

Pentru Creatori de Ejucării

Pentru a crea ejucării (etoys), cel mai bine ar fi să foloseşti actuala imagine OLPC. Totuşi, ejucăriile realizate cu versiunea squeakland.org ar trebui sa fie compatibilă. Adu-ţi aminte că ecranul actual al maşinilor copiilor este foarte mic, chiar dacă are o rezoluţie de 1200x900!

Planificăm un concurs pentru cele mai bune ejucării făcute pentru maşinile OLPC. Câştigătorii vor avea jucariile incluse în repozitoriul distribuit împreună cu 5 milioane de maşini anul următor. Se lucrează încă la stabilirea criteriilor exacte şi a formatului de trimitere, dar o idee bună ar fi să fie distractive, la îndemâna copiilor mai mici (textul nu ar trebui să fie prea complex), uşor de hackuit (codul să fie elegant), compact (spaţiul de pe disc este important) şi ar trebui să ilustreze câteva aspecte creative ale folosirii Etoys. Pentru Dezvoltatori

Versiunea curentă de Etoys pentru OLPC este bazată pe imaginea de pe squeakland.org. Rulează pe ultima maşină virtuală (VM) Squeak cu un cod minimal de Sugar.

Imaginile pot fi descărcate de la http://tinlizzie.org/olpc, deşi "Tin Lizzie" este un proiect diferit.

• etoys-dev-2.0-latest.zip conţine imaginile de dezvoltare + modificările (foloseşte-o pentru seturile de modificări)
• etoys-2.0-latest.zip conţine doar imaginea şi preferinţele sunt programate pentru dezvoltare (aceasta este pentru construirea de proiecte)

Aminteşte-ţi să-ţi actualizezi imaginea!

• etoys-image-and-pr.zip este o arhivă zip a ultimelor imagini si proiecte din arborele git

RPM-uri: Maşina virtuală Squeak şi activităţile Etoys sunt împachetate ca RPM-uri. Cel mai simplu mod de a le obţine este cu yum:

Cum să rulezi OLPC Etoys dacă nu ai încă un laptop OLPC - Pentru Creatorii de Conţinut/Testeri/Învăţători

Dacă tu, la fel ca mulţi dintre noi, nu ai un laptop OLPC, poţi încă să creezi conţinut pentru OLPC Etoys. Vor lipsi câteva integrări minore (Camera, etc.), dar majoritatea conţinutului si tastării pot fi realizate. Această secţiune descrie cum să faci asta.

Prima Metodă (Cea mai simplă) - Foloseşte instalarea Squeakland şi imaginea OLPC

Ideea din spatele aceste metode este să instalezi pe sistemul tau de operare favorit sistemul Squeakland Etoys şi să descarci imaginea OLPC Etoys si conţinutul. Apoi foloseşti maşina virtuală Squeakland pentru a rula iamginea OLPC.

How to install OLPC Etoys on your system? (Skip Step 1 and 2 below if you already have Squeak installed.)

• On Windows

1. 1. Download and install Etoys from Squeakland. Go to the Squeakland link; in the middle of the page, click on the "Download Squeak" button. On the next page, click on the "Download Squeak" link. Click "Open" on the browser dialog asking you to open or save the SqueakPluginInstaller.exe.
   2. A Squeak Plugin Installer installation dialog will come up; click on "Next", then "Close". This will install Squeak on your system, and create an item on your desktop named Squeak, which looks like this:
   3. Now Download the OLPC version of Etoys. The latest version can be downloaded from this site. You will need an extract program (such as PKZip, WinZip, or 7Zip) to extract this. Create a folder named "C:\Etoys-OLPC" or similar, and extract the contents of the downloaded etoys-image-and-pr.zip into the newly created folder.
   4. Running OLPC Etoys: Now we are ready to run OLPC Etoys downloaded in Step 3, using the Squeak desktop item created in Step 2. The simplest way to run OLPC Etoys is to drag the file etoys.image from the "C:\Etoys-OLPC" folder you created in Step 3 on top of the Squeak icon created in Step 2. Try it - it works! You should see the OLPC Etoys menu page: , and are ready to create OLPC Etoys content, test, or just play.

Method 2 - Use emulation

Emulation allows to "pretend" you have the OLPC laptop - essentially the OLPC laptop runs "inside" your system. You can achieve this on any common operating system you have. Please follow instructions here for descriptions on how to do it using Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, or MacOS.

Method 3 - Install RPMs (Linux Only)

If you are on any reasonably recent version of Linux, there are pre-built RPMs that you can install on your system (convert to apt first if applicable). Look on the Etoys page for instructions and a link to the RPM download.

Programming for the OLPC using Etoys Squeak

We are beginning a tutorial series about programming using the OLPC Squeak -- not for kids, but for programmers trying to create activities inside the Etoys environment. V-toys, a visual programming language built with E-toys

Mostly in French, but since the language is visual, you can download projects and learn by examples. A visual language for comments will be used so that v-toys will be independent of language in the future.
