Airplane mode

Airplanes probably don't actually need you to turn your wireless off. But to do so on the XO-1 go to a Developer_Console, or the Terminal Activity and issue the following commands:

1. Disable wireless

"rmmod usb8xxx"

1. Enable wireless

"modprobe usb8xxx"

Someone should build this in at some point, or perhaps put this in sugar-control-panel. But in the meantime this method works fine.
