OLPC의 주요한 목적 중 하나는 지역 커뮤니티들이 그들의 지식, 문화, 스토리와 관심을 디지털 도메인으로 가져올 수 있는 환경을 조성하는 것입니다. 이를 위해, XO는 XO가 배포되는 지역의 언어로 완전히 지역화될 필요가 있습니다.
아래는 노트북과 함께 제공될 소프트웨어들의 현지화 리소스들이며, http://dev.laptop.org/에 나열되어 있습니다. 수준은 어린이 또는 사용자에 대한 노출 수준을 0-9의 척도로 표시한 것입니다.
- 0 — 결코 노출되지 않음 - 특정 구성요소로 목록에는 포함되지만 배포되지는 않을 것;
- 3 — OS/리눅스를 다루거나 구성한 경험이 있는 고급 사용자에게 노출;
- 6 — 특정 액티비티의 조율 과정에서 노출; 그리고
- 9 — 일상적 노출
- unk — 아직 노출 수준이 결정되지 않음.
당연히, 수준이 높을수록, 파일럿 사이트를 위해 시급히 현지화되어야 합니다.
