The intent of this page is to gather references and source of content that can be used to demo the XO around.

Currently, the constraints are:

  • In english (the intended targets are Nigeria and Rwanda)
  • In spanish (the intended targets are Argentina and Uruguay).
  • In portuguese (the intended target is Brazil)
  • Open - compatible Creative Commons licenses are: CC-Attribution Non-commercial (by-nc) & CC-Attribution (by)
  • Subjects (in descending priorities) literacy, math, health, great images, geography/science/landmarks/art/history

English

http://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/graphing/classic/index.asp - an online graphing tool (for kids?). Can be used to make any sort of graph I gather, some of the descriptions at page top may be culturally specific. (US Gov)

http://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/grabbag/math_teasers/challenge.asp - math problems, kind of fun for kids. For some reason they seemed to be Italy themed. (US Gov)

http://www.nsa.gov/teachers/teach00006.cfm - NSA Collected learning units. Some cultural specificity, but also some good didactic activities. (US Gov)

Health

The milk matters campaign! (Some decent kids materials, re: calcium, brushing teeth.) [9]

NiH curriculum supplements. Needs to be parsed extensively, there are some amazing interactive activities. Deserves more examination. [10]

Actually this is part of a collection of several CD's published by educ.ar that (afaik) holds the copyrights... I tried to determine the actual license but didn't find any.

Espanol

This is a CD titled "Activities with Free Software" (Actividades con Software Libre) with subjects ranging mathematics, language, drawing and transportation/road-sign codes.
This is a Chilean publisher with text subjects in math, science, language, and social science (uses CC licensing).
