Must Have Speech Synthesis
Eben, I've been browsing around the wiki, and thinking, and trying to contribute. In the course of things, I realized that the value of an OLPC in the hands of a child increases radically with a speech synthesizer. With a speech synthesizer (something like Festival), a child could have the OLPC teach reading. A keyboard doesn't mean much to a child until they can read. With a speech synthesizer, a child could listen to an interactive story or ebook, and use the touch pad to point to choices.

This also leads to a quick conversation on having different base software packages. One package for children becoming literate, but another for literate pre-teen children. Let me know if you are the right person to discuss this with, or should I hit up SJ or Walter? -Jeff 21:18, 9 March 2007 (EST)
Just wondering, is the Bitfrost spec (not just the summary) what is supposed to go in the OLPC Human Interface Guidelines section on Security?

As OLPC_Human_Interface_Guidelines/The_Sugar_Interface/Controls/Buttons is NOT written in English, I can't translate it into Korean. Would give us an English version of it? Sincerely -- 21:19, 19 April 2007 (EDT)
: Thanks for your quick response. I understand the fact that some of my translating efforts may seem unnecessary. However, for Korean citizens to participate in OLPC activities, it is quite necessary to remove language barrier as much/soon as possible. The reason of translating even pages with their titles only is to provide discussion pages for those pages driven by the Korean language.

Hi! As far as I'm aware, the HIG has all it's pages translated into spanish (and partially into others). Theoretically, all the originals (read, the english pages you are working on) should have the language navigation bar. I haven't done it in order to avoid dumb edits, but since you seem to be doing another round in the originals, would it be too much to ask you insert / ensure that the following is present in the pages you tweak?

I'm looking for some high quality OLPC 'branding' or logo image files. I'm going to run off some t-shirts for a local conference, and would like to use some better images than what is found in upper left corner of the wiki page. :)

Thanks for your quick response.
The language barrier between English and Korean is much higher than most Western people can imagine. And, that's why there are only a few Koreans participating in open source communities. I hope your understanding that I'm NOT in a racing of who translates more than others....thanks.
