Much has changed in our understanding of nutrition. White bread with margarine is no longer considered benign, because we now know that complex carbohydrates are like sugar and that partially hydrogenated vegatable oil is worse than saturated fat. Corn (maize) is not such a good crop to be growing. One should not even count all vegetable oils as the same thing; omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids should be eaten in a proper ratio. |

Virtual villagers in the sense? Do you want them to be controlled by user. [[User:MohitTaneja|MohitTaneja]] 13:14, 17 June 2009 (UTC) |

It would be very valuable if you could generate a PO file for Food Force 2 so it can be submitted to the Sugar Pootle server and translated into more languages. If you have questions about how to do that leave a message on my talk page and I will try to connect you up with some assistance. [[User:Cjl|cjl]] 16:29, 2 September 2009 (UTC) |

Speech
We are in the process of bringing a speech synthesis server to the XO. The work should hopefully get completed very soon. You might want to consider using the underlying speech synthesis server that will be installed on the XO for speech synthesis. This ways you will be able to cut down drastically on the audio files for speech that you might have wanted to store. Hemant goyal 22:04, 1 February 2008 (EST)

About the original FF
data is obsolete
Much has changed in our understanding of nutrition. White bread with margarine is no longer considered benign, because we now know that complex carbohydrates are like sugar and that partially hydrogenated vegatable oil is worse than saturated fat. Corn (maize) is not such a good crop to be growing. One should not even count all vegetable oils as the same thing; omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids should be eaten in a proper ratio.

Livestock and poverty in Peru
Given that the theme of FF2 is "escape from poverty", you might be very interested in reading this research white paper from the International Livestock Research Institute entitled Dynamic Poverty Processes and the Role of Livestock in Peru. It looks like Peru is going to have the largest number of XO laptops deployed in the near-term future, and so this paper might have some specific lessons worth incorporating in the lessons taught by FF2 (e.g. weighting of factors in resources, etc.). - It looks like the link above broke, I've fixed it, but you can also look for the title (and other interesting papers) on this page. Cjl 14:50, 3 April 2008 (EDT)
I just added a link to the main page to a press release stating that Food Force is going to be turned into a children's book. Cjl

Food Force 2 localization
It would be very valuable if you could generate a PO file for Food Force 2 so it can be submitted to the Sugar Pootle server and translated into more languages. If you have questions about how to do that leave a message on my talk page and I will try to connect you up with some assistance. cjl 16:29, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
