OLPC is organizing a Curriculum Jam in Manila, scheduled for the first weekend of October (5-7). We'll be working with teachers around the world who are running Curriculum Jams in their countries at the same time. We'll be creating learning activities - developing miniature classes (45-minute lessons) to teach (anything we want) to local schoolchildren, who will actually take the classes on Sunday afternoon and give feedback on how to make the learning experiences better. After the Jam, we'll upload all the lessons plans we've generated to the internet and release them under an open content license so that other teachers around the world can do the same thing with their classes.

Participation in the Jam is free. To apply, click here.

Introduction

We're looking for high school and university journalists, techies with an interest in content management systems and online newspapers, graphic and layout designers, and education students with an interest in writing to join us to create (1) a newspaper, (2) a bundle of the open source tools you need to publish one, and (3) an open content how-to guide for groups of kids who want to start their own paper. We're looking to do all this in a single weekend. After the Jam, we'll publish our results to the web under Creative Commons licenses so that other groups can benefit from our work. Participation is free. Care to join us?

What is a Jam?

An OLPC Jam is a content creation crunch that gets participants from idea to reality in just a few days. By the end of the Jam, you'll have something finished to test with local youth (who serve as judges for the event). It's a great way to get started developing for OLPC. Click here to learn more.

I want to participate!

Jams are collaboratively organized events, so the best way to get started is to just dive in and introduce yourself. Participating in this Jam? Have ideas? Want to coordinate rides, teams, projects, or talk about the Jam? Edit the Jam Talk Page!
