A guide to translating,
the ongoing translations,

The following table is an automated report on the translated contents in the wiki. Being automated means that there may be things that escape it.

How to read it
basically the table is arranged in 3 areas:
  1. alphabetical list of 'source' pages on the left,
  2. some statistics on the source page, and
  3. links to the available translations (actually the xxx/translations)
The statistics cover four aspects or numbers referring to the source page:
  1. number of times it has been viewed,
  2. number of times it has been edited,
  3. a views:edits ratio
  4. number of incomming links
All the numbers have a 'cold-hot' color scaled background, being red the high (hot) values, and blue (cold) the low ones.

A 'perfect' page to translate would have all the numbers in the reds, except for the number of editions (preferably in the deep blues); meaning that it's being read/viewed, many pages link to it, the value of view:edit is high (each edition lasts), and the number of editions is low (cold)—so if you translate it, chances are that it'll serve a purpose and won't require too much maintenance. For example Bitfrost.

A page like News, with all the values in the reds, means that if translated, it will need to be periodically re-translated or it will soon be outdated. Try to avoid such pages, unless some level of continuous committement can be ensured for such updates.

Pages in the 'blues' don't necessarily imply 'unworthiness', as they could be young pages (particularly if the number of editions is red) that are probably better not tackled unless the topic is particularly important to a specific language.

Any suggestions on how to make this report better (ie: conflate statistics into one number/color, or add fields like 'last edited' or 'number of bytes') is more than welcome, and can be discussed about

Outdated translations

The following is an effort to keep the translations up to date (ja! :) Several things must be considered when browsing below:

  • Only pages using XYXXZ/lang-xx format are examined ('non-standard' pages are ignored)
  • The ONLY criteria is the 'last edition timestamp (sorry, not using the ID#, so modifications after the source was updated are considered updates, when they could be just tweaks)
  • Some pages are redirects and other artifacts (need to work on that)

Thus, it should be taken as a guideline, but not proof that everything is upto date...
